Anti-Bullying Week

This week is anti-bullying week. In class, we watched the video, ‘For the Birds.’ In the video, some of the birds were being unkind to the big bird. We decided that this was not OK. As a class, we came up with a list for how to be a better friend. Then, we created posters. Take a look:

Food Critics!

Today we tried our bread. Most of us liked it but some of us were unsure. As we were eating, we took another look at the photographs from baking and evaluated our work.

One table said, “Next time we’ll use less buttermilk. It was too sticky and hard to roll.”

Another table said, “We measured the ingredients carefully and our bread was easy to roll.”

Look at us eating the bread, can you tell if we’re enjoying it or not?

The bakers of 1666

Yesterday we travelled back in time to 1st September 1666 to help Thomas Farriner in his bakery. He sent a letter to the class asking for help as he had far too much to do! Team 3 washed their hands, rolled up their sleeves and got baking! In table teams, they read and followed a recipe to make wheaten bread. They measured out all the ingredients themselves using electronic scales and assembled ingredients independently. Look at them go. Great British Bake Off, watch this space, we have some young bakers on the rise!

Look out for our tasting session and our evaluations. Some of us have already thought about what we would do differently.

Travelling back in time!

On Tuesday we had a wonderful visitor to our school. Mary from all the way back in 1666 came to visit! We learned all about the Great Fire of London. Did you know that only 6 people died during the fire? Also, did you know that when the people of London were escaping, they had to pay a penny to get safely on a boat? We had a great time! Look at all the fun and learning we did:

Warning, Warning!

This afternoon in Guided Reading we looked at a non-fiction book about, The Great Fire of London. The illustrations (pictures) in the text are very detailed and today, we used them to understand feelings and look at our inference skills. We looked at a zoomed in picture and wrote warnings for the people of 1666. Take a look at the picture and watch our videos.

Here are our videos.

Afternoon Tea Superstars!

We have had a fantastic week in Team 3 this week and nearly all our children got a gold card! The gold cards were drawn out of the gold box this morning and guess what? All three of them were children in our class!! Well done to the lucky three and thank you for your outstanding behaviour, effort and work.

I wonder who who will get one next week? Keep working hard Team 3!
